What does the ban on T5\/T8 fluorescent light sources mean?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The reason for the phasing out of fluorescent light sources is because the fluorescent tubes contain mercury, which is dangerous for people and nature. Therefore, EU has decided on a canceled exception for mercury in light sources in the RoHS directive (Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite mercury being one of the most dangerous environmental toxins, it has been allowed to be used in some light sources pending more energy efficient alternatives. But now that\u2019s the end of it.
