New modern lighting, in the old style for the renovated Östermalmshallen

After several years of work with renovation and expansion in the old style, Östermalms Saluhall has been equipped with state-of-the-art lighting technology. Wennerström Ljuskontroll has delivered DALI control systems and LED ballasts from Tridonic and LED tape from Welight.

After several years, the beautiful old environment is completed with lighting installations that use new LED technology

Planning began as early as 2014 and in March 2020, the new market hall was inaugurated. The project is well worked out with, among other things, renovation and updating of old luminaires to the new LED technology. A fantastic environment with nice light installations both indoors and outdoors.

WLK also created a lighting solution for the temporary market hall located on Östermalmstorg during the renovation of the new one.

Östermalms Saluhall won the 2021 Svenska Ljuspriset.

The jury’s motivation was:
“The gastronomic Mecca of old has been recreated, and with modern lighting technology a feeling of both exclusivity and liveliness is conveyed. Through exquisite balance between daylight and environmental lighting, the room is given an airy impression, while luminaires with historical connection create intimacy, orientability and structure. a seamless transition between space and small scale. A masterful handling of light creates an atmosphere so natural that it seems to have been there for more than 100 years.”
