Theatrical lighting, in the 5 star restaurant Vyn
Vyn is a Scandinavian restaurant, opened by star chef Daniel Berlin, located in Österlen in eastern Skåne. The building is an older farm where materials and furnishings have been sourced from the local area. Inspiration has also been taken from Österlen’s unique light, which is why it was important for the light in the restaurant to highlight and enhance the qualities of the material. The restaurant’s surfaces are used in a way to create the feeling of a theatrical atmosphere, where the kitchen becomes like a stage. To make the feeling stand out, the surroundings are dark and sunlight is the main light source.
The choice of restaurant lighting was made to create effects such as the Fires, Shelf Lighting and Stair Lighting with its asymmetrical lens that only illuminates the stairs and not the wall. Everything is created with the idea of illuminating the material in the best way and getting details to be accentuated and the quality to be highlighted in the right way.
Winner of Svenska Ljuspriset 2024
WLK have delivered components för lighting as Welight LEDtape with aluminium profiles and lenses. The super thin profile NY LED line slim and Tridonic 24 V DALI driver.
The profiles with LEDtape are customized for the project, custombuilt with different lenses and solutions with quick connectors, everything dependent on the function you want to achheive in the project.
Daniel Berlin’s restaurant Vyn won the 2024 Svenska Ljuspriset for the Interior category.
The jury’s motivation was:
“Soft, warm, intimate, calm and safe. Your breathing slows down and you are enveloped in an atmosphere that everyone should experience. This is truly a culinary light experience where the recipe consists of well-balanced color temperatures, light directions and light levels. Every accent has a purpose and the whole satisfies every taste bud. The chefs and the dishes are scenographically lit and there is no doubt who has the main role here. The light recipe provides a truly successful view.”
